In an Instagram post, pastry chef and owner Mohamed Al-Matin and his team shared that their last day of operation will be on February 29
After opening its first dine-in concept at Ion Orchard last year, Le Matin Patisserie announced in an Instagram post that it is shuttering its doors for good on February 29. In the Instagram post, pastry chef and owner Mohamad Al-Matin and his team shared that “while our journey has been filled with countless memorable moments, we have come to a pivotal juncture where we feel compelled to embark on a new chapter. After much reflection and consideration, we have made the decision to bid farewell to Le Matin Patisserie in its current form.”
While Matin didn’t disclose the reason for closing its doors in the Instagram post, he shared that the decision didn’t come lightly but it was necessary for the team to “reset, regroup, and explore new directions that will allow us to continue pushing the boundaries of culinary innovation and creativity”. The team will continue to fulfil the rest of its orders online after February.

The news comes as a surprise to many fans, given that the dine-in concept has drawn long queues for its signature viennoiseries, cakes, pastries and tarts since it first opened. In an interview last year, Matin told Tatler Singapore that the decision to open at Ion Orchard was a “huge marketing move for the team to gain more traction and bring the business to the next level”. And, with higher foot traffic, the café also debuted an all-day dining menu, offering the likes of scrambled eggs enhanced with black truffle aioli and truffle paste, and brioche feuillettée which comes in two versions: tamari-cured chutoro, sea urchin butter and edamame mash, and MBS5+ Wagyu ribeye, smoked duck fat and onion marmalade.
Throughout its one year of operation, Matin and his team have also received many accolades, among which are the ‘Best Cake of 2023’ by the StraitsTimes, and three spoons for the Museum of Ice Cream’s ‘Sweet Spot Awards’. Matin himself was also part of Tatler Singapore’s Gen.T list last year.
