When André Fu was hired by Swire to design Hong Kong’s Upper House Hotel, he was a young designer with zero hospitality experience and a tiny studio that employed only three people. But it was a commission that made his name overnight, with the hotel’s 2009 launch propelling him into the highest echelon of high-end designers, becoming known for style that combines comfort and elegance—a kind of chilled-out, comfort-forward minimalism.

Since then he has worked on numerous luxury hotels: Hong Kong’s Kerry Hotel and St Regis, as well as serviced apartment development K11 Artus; Fullerton Bay Hotel, Andaz and Capella in Singapore; the Waldorf Astoria Bangkok; The Berkeley Hotel in London; the Four Seasons Seoul; and the Shangri-La Tokyo and Hotel The Mitsui Kyoto. He has also designed restaurants Estro and Salisterra, among others. He has also done three commissions for Hong Kong Palace Museum.

In 2015 he launched his homeware products brand André Fu Living, and opened his flagship André Fu Living store in Pacific Place in 2021. He has also designed objects for Louis Vuitton.
